The Importance of Mathematical Sciences from an Applied CG Production Perspective
speaker:
Tohru Yamamori (Polygon Pictures, Corporate Officer, Technology)
Abstract:

Through participation in an assembly at KSS, Polygon Pictures gained an opportunity to think about the condition of corporate technological research and development and academic research. As part of this we were able to spend time thinking, in a positive way, about the importance of mathematical methods and the issues that face us in the future, including the difficulties of applying such methods and the points which corporations need to improve upon. In this seminar, I would like to look back on past experience and talk about the issues, both middle and long term, which must be considered in the future, while also giving an overview of my experiences at the assembly, etc.

This talk is co-organized with KSS for Studies with Renderman, and there is another talk in Studio Seminar for Practices.

A method of generating a color patch for the printer control
speaker:
Akira Nishizawa (KYOCERA Document Solutions Inc.)
Abstract:

KDC's printers are controlled by various color patch. A standard color patch product (like a ISO,IEC or ITU) is often used. But those aren't all-around. So color patch is often generated according to the use and the purpose. Those are classified into about 2 or 3 kinds.

  1. Those are often used for measurement of the printer quality. Those are used for engineer to get performance of devices mainly.
  2. Those are often used for an color analysis and color compensation of a print image. Those are used for salesmen and servicemen to get customer's request mainly.
  3. Those are often used to optimize the color image gamut mapping automatic ally. These like parts of so-called IOT or M2M in a color printer (with machine learning).

We don't get good evaluation yet, but we're working on development, too. This time, I'd like to talk about those color patch generating with the trouble and the problem which often happen.

note:

There is another talk in Studio Seminar for Practices.
